Nassau County is a suburban county in the New York Metropolitan Area. Nassau County occupies a portion of Long Island immediately east of New York City, in the southeastern portion of New York State. Nassau County has a total area of approximately 450 square miles of which 64% is land and 36% water. Currently Nassau County is the richest county per capita in the State of New York and the sixth richest in the nation.
